Well good on you Lloyds Bank!
Have you seen their latest TV ad?
It’s highlighting mental health and the need to talk about it. The more cynical of us will say it’s just a PR stunt, and God knows the banks need to repair their image, but this is still good work in reducing the stigma around mental health.
50 years ago companies did a lot of good work for society and especially their employees (Cadburys built homes for their employees for example) but that has dropped away with the myopic drive towards efficiency and profit since then.
It’s in the interest of employers to have mentally healthy employees: mental productivity drops by 40% with stress, let alone debilitating anxiety or depression.
Companies can make a massive impact on addressing mental health issues. Perhaps this is the start. Well done Lloyds Bank.
